Amelia Niemi is an Associate Attorney with the Antonelli Law Drone/UAS Practice Group, which was one of the country’s first such legal practices. Ms. Niemi has assisted the firm with filing Part 107 Waivers and over one hundred Section 333 Petitions for Exemption and Amendment for clients nationwide. On August 29, 2016, four of the original Part 107 waiver grants went to applications she worked on at Antonelli Law. She has also counseled clients on a variety of FAA and intellectual property matters. Ms. Niemi is the author of the recent DePaul Law Review article, “Section 333: What we’ve learned and where we need to go.” She has a special place in her heart for model aircraft operators, because her father has been building and flying them since before she was born.
Originally from Cary, North Carolina, Ms. Niemi earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law with a concentration in intellectual property law. While at DePaul, she earned the Benjamin Hooks Distinguished Public Service Award and served as secretary of the Student Bar Association. Ms. Niemi obtained bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Classical Humanities from George Washington University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
